Sculptures

Here's a couple of my most recent sculptures I created with my old spray cans, some oven-bake clay, pieces of wood, a flower pot, brick and matte black spraypaint....

Experimental Video: "Shadow Painting Typewriter"

The first time I heard, saw and felt the spray can, I knew this was the instrument. It was the paint that was different from all the other paints. Manipulating the paint is something that I could just do. I continue to express myself as best I can with spray paint and still have a lot of work to do.  I'm a student of the spray can but I'm also a teacher of the spray can.

Through the use of video I maintain the anonymity associated with the act of spray painting while allowing the audio to reinforce the similarity of making a mark with the now stone-age technology of typewriting. I intended to depict exactly what the title of the video suggests. A typewriter, a shadow and some painting.

(plus a few fancy effects, just for kicks)

Laggin' (again)

First off, it's been a while since I've updated, so sorry about that.

Life just gets in the way sometimes.  You know how it goes.

Besides life getting in the way, I've also been busy brainstorming about putting together an art show.  I might be getting ahead of myself but it's good to be optimistic.  I've also been working a lot on these drawings from the hours of midnight til the early morning (I'll tell you about that in depth another time). But, just know as of late, I've really been getting into my night-owl sessions.  So, in the (hopefully near!) future, I'll have the opportunity to invite you to check out some of my art.  Anyway, onto some great painting...

Here's some dope pics of a large painting from my homies Broak and CANLOVE that they produced at the Graff Lab.  I was invited to paint in this production, but it was my cousin's 1st birthday and family takes priority.  But I  did stop by for the morning activities and discussions.  I stayed for as long as I could but eventually had to leave.  I was pretty bummed cause it would have been a great time.  I went back the next day to take the finished pics so enjoy!

Props..

Sick right!?!

In progress...

I've been lagging on my posts but here's some shots of a painting that I'm kind of figuring out what I want to do as I go along.  Kinda just wingin' it and seeing what happens...

A quick in-process and a finished shot I took with my fancy smart phone of my "W.W.J.D" painting at the Graduate Walkthrough show in the Fine Arts Gallery at CSULA.

Show runs from now 'til February 1.
